Berthierville also has its islands: the Berthier Island. They are, with those of sorel on the south shore of the river, the archipelago of the lake Saint-Pierre. In 2000, UNESCO recognized Lake Saint-pierre as a biosphere reserve. Nothing surprising since 90 % of the territory has remained in the wild and it serves as a migratory stop to several birds. Open all year long!
