Community Involvement

The Days Inn Berthierville is a leader in social and environmental engagement. For many years, the hotel has been involved with the local community in various ways, whether it is by giving furniture to the less fortunate and funding local events or contributing to the Youth Centre (Place jeunesse Berthier). Our company is also involved with national causes like Movember Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, Leucan and many other charities.

Here are some examples of the many social commitments made by the Days Inn Berthierville:

Environmental Initiatives

Protecting the environment is an important value for The Days Inn. That is why we take the time to carefully select products for our customers and equipment for our staff as well as thinking about all the little things we do in our daily lives that could have an impact on the surrounding environment.

Here are some of the many ways that the Days Inn Berthierville is taking action for the environment:

  • Offer our customers refillable shower gel and shampoo.
  • The shampoo and shower gel are also biodegradable.
  • Toilet paper and facial tissues are 100% recycled and unbleached made by Cascades.
  • Recycling bin in every room so that our customers can place their recyclable items in the bin directly.
  • Use of recycled paint when completing work or renovating.
  • Small shampoo bottles are made of recycled plastic and are recyclable.
  • Employee uniforms (shirt and blazer) are made of recycled materials.
  • All paper and cardboard products are recycled.
  • Replaced plastic utensils and plates with real cutlery and dishes made from compostable bamboo.
  • Boardrooms, hotel lobby, bar and breakfast room all have recycling bins available.
  • Compostable coffee cups and lids as well as real coffee mugs available.
  • Composting and recycling available at breakfast.
  • Water pitchers in place of bottled water in the boardrooms.
  • Worn furniture, bedding and other used items are donated. Nothing is thrown away.
  • Compact light bulbs throughout the hotel.
  • Energy management system in each room for heating and air conditioning.
  • Plastic bottles and aluminum cans are recycled.
  • When making decisions about new purchases, renovations or something similar, the three Rs are always taken into account.
  • Reusable coffee filters.
  • Purchase of 3 blue recycling bins.
  • Recycling of empty ink cartridges.
  • Use of boxes, folders and envelopes made of recycled materials.
  • Notepads, paper and envelopes made of recycled paper.
  • Purchase of a shredder.
  • Reorganization of documentation to eliminate duplicates.
  • Recycling of light bulbs and batteries.
  • Save used paper to use for scrap paper (used papers do not contain information about our customers. Those are shredded).
  • Water-saver showerheads installed in all the rooms.
  • Use of products that are biodegradable in 28 days, phosphate-free and phosphorous-free such as “Hertel” and “La Parisienne” instead of “Tide” and “Javex”.
  • Eliminated plastic drinking glasses and replaced them with real glassware.
  • Use of Cascades “North River” napkins (these products are made entirely of recycled materials, containing up to 100% post-consumer unbleached fibre).
  • Use of permanent place mats instead of white paper place mats.
